Dr. Fassio is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He specializes in surgery of the eye with emphasis in cataract surgery and glaucoma treatment. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. from the University of Utah in 1985. He completed his medical training at the University of Louisville earning the highest honors of Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Fassio completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Missouri in Columbia and a fellowship at the Moran Eye Center (University of Utah). While at the Moran Eye Center he undertook specialized training in cataract and glaucoma care. Upon completion, he remained at the Moran Eye Center as an assistant professor of ophthalmology for ten years. In 2003, Dr. Fassio established Mountain Valley Eye Institute. Other interes include: corneal diseases, diabetic eye disease, dry eyes, refractive surgery, and eyelid surgery.
 
He is an active member of several medical organizations, including the Utah Ophthalmology Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive surgeons. Dr. Fassio maintains surgical staff privileges at the Moran Eye Center, Heber Valley Medical Center, Evanston Regional Hospital in Wyoming, and is part owner of the new state of the art surgical center Physician Surgical Center in Salt Lake City.
 
Raised in Salt Lake City, Dr. Fassio and his wife, Tonya, decided to return to his home state following the completion of his residency. Dr. Fassio currently lives in Park City with his wife and their two children. Dr. Fassio is an accomplished x-country skier, and mountain/road biker. Other hobbies include gardening, weight lifting and hiking.
  
 

                          

 Sandra J. Lehman, O. D.
Dr. Sandra J. Lehman received her B.A. from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, in 1987. She graduated with honors from the University of California at Berkley School of Optometry. While in optometry school, she did specialized training in infant and toddler eye care and thesis research on vision screenings for preschool children. After graduation, Dr. Lehman was a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Norton D. Sarver Contact Lens Research Laboratory studying the effects of contact lens wear on corneal health. She joined Mountain Valley Eye Institute in 2006 after 8 years of private practice in California. Dr. Lehman sees children as young as six months old, and adults of all ages. She provides care for patients needing routine and specialty contact lenses, including bifocal and toric contact lenses, and lenses for patients with eye diseases.     
 
Dr. Lehman lives with her husband, Chris, and her two teenagers, Karl and Katy, in Emigration Canyon. She is a member of the Utah Optometric Association and is a Co-president of the Skyline High School PTA. She is an unaccomplished but enthusiastic x-country skier, and enjoys hiking, backpacking, canoeing, and watching her husband garden.
